CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipmr: do not call mr_mfc_uses_dev() for unres entries
syzbot found that calling mr_mfc_uses_dev() for unres entries
would crash [1], because c->mfc_un.res.minvif / c->mfc_un.res.maxvif
alias to "struct sk_buff_head unresolved", which contain two pointers.
This code never worked, lets remove it.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: cdc-acm: Check control transfer buffer size before access
If the first fragment is shorter than struct usb_cdc_notification, we can't
calculate an expected_size. Log an error and discard the notification
instead of reading lengths from memory outside the received data, which can
lead to memory corruption when the expected_size decreases between
fragments, causing `expected_size - acm->nb_index` to wrap.
This issue has been present since the beginning of git history; however,
it only leads to memory corruption since commit ea2583529cd1
("cdc-acm: reassemble fragmented notifications").
A mitigating factor is that acm_ctrl_irq() can only execute after userspace
has opened /dev/ttyACM*; but if ModemManager is running, ModemManager will
do that automatically depending on the USB device's vendor/product IDs and
its other interfaces. |

bpf: Fix bpf_sk_select_reuseport() memory leak
As pointed out in the original comment, lookup in sockmap can return a TCP
ESTABLISHED socket. Such TCP socket may have had SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_EBPF
set before it was ESTABLISHED. In other words, a non-NULL sk_reuseport_cb
does not imply a non-refcounted socket.
Drop sk's reference in both error paths.

vsock: prevent null-ptr-deref in vsock_*[has_data|has_space]
Recent reports have shown how we sometimes call vsock_*_has_data()
when a vsock socket has been de-assigned from a transport (see attached
links), but we shouldn't.
Previous commits should have solved the real problems, but we may have
more in the future, so to avoid null-ptr-deref, we can return 0
(no space, no data available) but with a warning.
This way the code should continue to run in a nearly consistent state
and have a warning that allows us to debug future problems. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: rtlwifi: remove unused check_buddy_priv
Commit 2461c7d60f9f ("rtlwifi: Update header file") introduced a global
list of private data structures.
Later on, commit 26634c4b1868 ("rtlwifi Modify existing bits to match
vendor version 2013.02.07") started adding the private data to that list at
probe time and added a hook, check_buddy_priv to find the private data from
a similar device.
However, that function was never used.
Besides, though there is a lock for that list, it is never used. And when
the probe fails, the private data is never removed from the list. This
would cause a second probe to access freed memory.
Remove the unused hook, structures and members, which will prevent the
potential race condition on the list and its corruption during a second
probe when probe fails. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
printk: Fix signed integer overflow when defining LOG_BUF_LEN_MAX
Shifting 1 << 31 on a 32-bit int causes signed integer overflow, which
leads to undefined behavior. To prevent this, cast 1 to u32 before
performing the shift, ensuring well-defined behavior.
This change explicitly avoids any potential overflow by ensuring that
the shift occurs on an unsigned 32-bit integer. |

wifi: brcmsmac: add gain range check to wlc_phy_iqcal_gainparams_nphy()
In 'wlc_phy_iqcal_gainparams_nphy()', add gain range check to WARN()

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: xhci: Fix NULL pointer dereference on certain command aborts
If a command is queued to the final usable TRB of a ring segment, the
enqueue pointer is advanced to the subsequent link TRB and no further.
If the command is later aborted, when the abort completion is handled
the dequeue pointer is advanced to the first TRB of the next segment.
If no further commands are queued, xhci_handle_stopped_cmd_ring() sees
the ring pointers unequal and assumes that there is a pending command,
so it calls xhci_mod_cmd_timer() which crashes if cur_cmd was NULL.
Don't attempt timer setup if cur_cmd is NULL. The subsequent doorbell
ring likely is unnecessary too, but it's harmless. Leave it alone.
This is probably Bug 219532, but no confirmation has been received.
The issue has been independently reproduced and confirmed fixed using
a USB MCU programmed to NAK the Status stage of SET_ADDRESS forever.
Everything continued working normally after several prevented crashes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
hrtimers: Handle CPU state correctly on hotplug
Consider a scenario where a CPU transitions from CPUHP_ONLINE to halfway
through a CPU hotunplug down to CPUHP_HRTIMERS_PREPARE, and then back to
CPUHP_ONLINE:
Since hrtimers_prepare_cpu() does not run, cpu_base.hres_active remains set
to 1 throughout. However, during a CPU unplug operation, the tick and the
clockevents are shut down at CPUHP_AP_TICK_DYING. On return to the online
state, for instance CFS incorrectly assumes that the hrtick is already
active, and the chance of the clockevent device to transition to oneshot
mode is also lost forever for the CPU, unless it goes back to a lower state
than CPUHP_HRTIMERS_PREPARE once.
This round-trip reveals another issue; cpu_base.online is not set to 1
after the transition, which appears as a WARN_ON_ONCE in enqueue_hrtimer().
Aside of that, the bulk of the per CPU state is not reset either, which
means there are dangling pointers in the worst case.
Address this by adding a corresponding startup() callback, which resets the
stale per CPU state and sets the online flag.
[ tglx: Make the new callback unconditionally available, remove the online
modification in the prepare() callback and clear the remaining
state in the starting callback instead of the prepare callback ] |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fs: relax assertions on failure to encode file handles
Encoding file handles is usually performed by a filesystem >encode_fh()
method that may fail for various reasons.
The legacy users of exportfs_encode_fh(), namely, nfsd and
name_to_handle_at(2) syscall are ready to cope with the possibility
of failure to encode a file handle.
There are a few other users of exportfs_encode_{fh,fid}() that
currently have a WARN_ON() assertion when ->encode_fh() fails.
Relax those assertions because they are wrong.
The second linked bug report states commit 16aac5ad1fa9 ("ovl: support
encoding non-decodable file handles") in v6.6 as the regressing commit,
but this is not accurate.
The aforementioned commit only increases the chances of the assertion
and allows triggering the assertion with the reproducer using overlayfs,
inotify and drop_caches.
Triggering this assertion was always possible with other filesystems and
other reasons of ->encode_fh() failures and more particularly, it was
also possible with the exact same reproducer using overlayfs that is
mounted with options index=on,nfs_export=on also on kernels < v6.6.
Therefore, I am not listing the aforementioned commit as a Fixes commit.
Backport hint: this patch will have a trivial conflict applying to
v6.6.y, and other trivial conflicts applying to stable kernels < v6.6. |

net/sched: stop qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog on TC_H_ROOT
In qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog, Qdiscs with major handle ffff: are assumed
to be either root or ingress. This assumption is bogus since it's valid
to create egress qdiscs with major handle ffff:
Budimir Markovic found that for qdiscs like DRR that maintain an active
class list, it will cause a UAF with a dangling class pointer.
In 066a3b5b2346, the concern was to avoid iterating over the ingress
qdisc since its parent is itself. The proper fix is to stop when parent
TC_H_ROOT is reached because the only way to retrieve ingress is when a
hierarchy which does not contain a ffff: major handle call into
qdisc_lookup with TC_H_MAJ(TC_H_ROOT).
In the scenario where major ffff: is an egress qdisc in any of the tree
levels, the updates will also propagate to TC_H_ROOT, which then the
iteration must stop.

Looking at the padata_mt_helper() function, the only way a divide-by-0
panic can happen is when ps->chunk_size is 0. The way that chunk_size is
initialized in padata_do_multithreaded(), chunk_size can be 0 when the

ext4: fix infinite loop when replaying fast_commit
When doing fast_commit replay an infinite loop may occur due to an
uninitialized extent_status struct. ext4_ext_determine_insert_hole() does

return immediately without initializing the 'es' variable.
Because 'es' contains garbage, an integer overflow may happen causing an
infinite loop in this function, easily reproducible using fstest generic/039.
This commit fixes this issue by unconditionally initializing the structure
in function ext4_es_find_extent_range().
