CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nvmet-tcp: fix race between ICReq handling and queue teardown
nvmet_tcp_handle_icreq() updates queue->state after sending an
Initialization Connection Response (ICResp), but it does so without
serializing against target-side queue teardown.
If an NVMe/TCP host sends an Initialization Connection Request
(ICReq) and immediately closes the connection, target-side teardown
may start in softirq context before io_work drains the already
buffered ICReq. In that case, nvmet_tcp_schedule_release_queue()
sets queue->state to NVMET_TCP_Q_DISCONNECTING and drops the queue
reference under state_lock.
If io_work later processes that ICReq, nvmet_tcp_handle_icreq() can
still overwrite the state back to NVMET_TCP_Q_LIVE. That defeats the
DISCONNECTING-state guard in nvmet_tcp_schedule_release_queue() and
allows a later socket state change to re-enter teardown and issue a
second kref_put() on an already released queue.
The ICResp send failure path has the same problem. If teardown has
already moved the queue to DISCONNECTING, a send error can still
overwrite the state with NVMET_TCP_Q_FAILED, again reopening the
window for a second teardown path to drop the queue reference.
Fix this by serializing both post-send state transitions with
state_lock and bailing out if teardown has already started.
Use -ESHUTDOWN as an internal sentinel for that bail-out path rather
than propagating it as a transport error like -ECONNRESET. Keep
nvmet_tcp_socket_error() setting rcv_state to NVMET_TCP_RECV_ERR before
honoring that sentinel so receive-side parsing stays quiesced until the
existing release path completes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
uio: uio_pci_generic_sva: fix double free of devm_kzalloc() memory
uio_pci_sva allocates struct uio_pci_sva_dev with devm_kzalloc() in
probe(), but then calls kfree(udev) both on the probe() error path
(label out_free) and again in remove().
Because devm_kzalloc() allocations are devres-managed and are freed
automatically when the device is detached (including after a failing
probe() and during driver unbind), the explicit kfree() can lead to a
double free.
If probe() fails after devm_kzalloc(), the error path frees udev and
devres cleanup will free it again when the core unwinds the partially
bound device. On normal driver removal, remove() frees udev and devres
will free it again when the device is detached.
This issue was identified by a static analysis tool I developed and
confirmed by manual review. Fix by removing the manual kfree() calls
and dropping the now-unused label. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: shaper: reject duplicate leaves in GROUP request
net_shaper_nl_group_doit() does not deduplicate NET_SHAPER_A_LEAVES
entries. When userspace supplies the same leaf handle twice, the same
old-parent pointer lands twice in old_nodes[]. The cleanup loop double
frees the parent. Of course the same parent may still be in old_nodes[]
twice if we are moving multiple of its leaves.
Note that this patch also implicitly fixes the fact that the
i >= leaves_count path forgets to set ret. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mailbox: mailbox-test: don't free the reused channel
The RX channel can be aliased to the TX channel if it has a different
MMIO. This special case needs to be handled when freeing the channels
otherwise a double-free occurs. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: nft_tunnel: fix use-after-free on object destroy
nft_tunnel_obj_destroy() calls metadata_dst_free() which directly
kfree()s the metadata_dst, ignoring the dst_entry refcount. Packets
that took a reference via dst_hold() in nft_tunnel_obj_eval() and
are still queued (e.g. in a netem qdisc) are left with a dangling
pointer. When these packets are eventually dequeued, dst_release()
operates on freed memory.
Replace metadata_dst_free() with dst_release() so the metadata_dst
is freed only after all references are dropped. The dst subsystem
already handles metadata_dst cleanup in dst_destroy() when
DST_METADATA is set. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdgpu: avoid double drm_exec_fini() in userq validate
When new_addition is true, amdgpu_userq_vm_validate() calls
drm_exec_fini(&exec) before iterating over the collected HMM ranges and
calling amdgpu_ttm_tt_get_user_pages().
If amdgpu_ttm_tt_get_user_pages() fails in that path, the code jumps to
unlock_all and calls drm_exec_fini(&exec) a second time on the same
exec object. drm_exec_fini() is not idempotent: it frees exec->objects
and may also drop exec->contended and finalize the ww acquire context.
Route that error path directly to the range cleanup once exec has
already been finalized.
Issue found using a prototype static analysis tool
and confirmed by code review.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
btrfs: fix double free in create_space_info_sub_group() error path
When kobject_init_and_add() fails, the call chain is:
create_space_info_sub_group()
-> btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type()
-> kobject_init_and_add()
-> failure
-> kobject_put(&sub_group->kobj)
-> space_info_release()
-> kfree(sub_group)
Then control returns to create_space_info_sub_group(), where:
btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type() returns error
-> kfree(sub_group)
Thus, sub_group is freed twice.
Keep parent->sub_group[index] = NULL for the failure path, but after
btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type() has called kobject_put(), let the
kobject release callback handle the cleanup. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
spi: meson-spicc: Fix double-put in remove path
meson_spicc_probe() registers the controller with
devm_spi_register_controller(), so teardown already drops the
controller reference via devm cleanup.
Calling spi_controller_put() again in meson_spicc_remove()
causes a double-put. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
exit: prevent preemption of oopsing TASK_DEAD task
When an already-exiting task oopses, make_task_dead() currently calls
do_task_dead() with preemption enabled. That is forbidden:
do_task_dead() calls __schedule(), which has a comment saying "WARNING:
must be called with preemption disabled!".
If an oopsing task is preempted in do_task_dead(), between becoming
TASK_DEAD and entering the scheduler explicitly, bad things happen:
finish_task_switch() assumes that once the scheduler has switched away
from a TASK_DEAD task, the task can never run again and its stack is no
longer needed; but that assumption apparently doesn't hold if the dead
task was preempted (the SM_PREEMPT case).
This means that the scheduler ends up repeatedly dropping references on
the dead task's stack, which can lead to use-after-free or double-free
of the entire task stack; in other words, two tasks can end up running
on the same stack, resulting in various kinds of memory corruption.
(This does not just affect "recursively oopsing" tasks; it is enough to
oops once during task exit, for example in a file_operations::release
handler) |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/vmw_pvrdma: Fix double free on pvrdma_alloc_ucontext() error path
Sashiko points out that pvrdma_uar_free() is already called within
pvrdma_dealloc_ucontext(), so calling it before triggers a double free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ice: fix double free in ice_sf_eth_activate() error path
When auxiliary_device_add() fails, ice_sf_eth_activate() jumps to
aux_dev_uninit and calls auxiliary_device_uninit(&sf_dev->adev).
The device release callback ice_sf_dev_release() frees sf_dev, but
the current error path falls through to sf_dev_free and calls
kfree(sf_dev) again, causing a double free.
Keep kfree(sf_dev) for the auxiliary_device_init() failure path, but
avoid falling through to sf_dev_free after auxiliary_device_uninit(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: caif: clear client service pointer on teardown
`caif_connect()` can tear down an existing client after remote shutdown by
calling `caif_disconnect_client()` followed by `caif_free_client()`.
`caif_free_client()` releases the service layer referenced by
`adap_layer->dn`, but leaves that pointer stale.
When the socket is later destroyed, `caif_sock_destructor()` calls
`caif_free_client()` again and dereferences the freed service pointer.
Clear the client/service links before releasing the service object so
repeated teardown becomes harmless. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: mac80211: always free skb on ieee80211_tx_prepare_skb() failure
ieee80211_tx_prepare_skb() has three error paths, but only two of them
free the skb. The first error path (ieee80211_tx_prepare() returning
TX_DROP) does not free it, while invoke_tx_handlers() failure and the
fragmentation check both do.
Add kfree_skb() to the first error path so all three are consistent,
and remove the now-redundant frees in callers (ath9k, mt76,
mac80211_hwsim) to avoid double-free.
Document the skb ownership guarantee in the function's kdoc. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: wan/fsl_ucc_hdlc: Fix dma_free_coherent() in uhdlc_memclean()
The priv->rx_buffer and priv->tx_buffer are alloc'd together as
contiguous buffers in uhdlc_init() but freed as two buffers in
uhdlc_memclean().
Change the cleanup to only call dma_free_coherent() once on the whole
buffer. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/irdma: Fix double free related to rereg_user_mr
If IB_MR_REREG_TRANS is set during rereg_user_mr, the
umem will be released and a new one will be allocated
in irdma_rereg_mr_trans. If any step of irdma_rereg_mr_trans
fails after the new umem is allocated, it releases the umem,
but does not set iwmr->region to NULL. The problem is that
this failure is propagated to the user, who will then call
ibv_dereg_mr (as they should). Then, the dereg_mr path will
see a non-NULL umem and attempt to call ib_umem_release again.
Fix this by setting iwmr->region to NULL after ib_umem_release.
Fixed: 5ac388db27c4 ("RDMA/irdma: Add support to re-register a memory region") |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
soc: ti: pruss: Fix double free in pruss_clk_mux_setup()
In the pruss_clk_mux_setup(), the devm_add_action_or_reset() indirectly
calls pruss_of_free_clk_provider(), which calls of_node_put(clk_mux_np)
on the error path. However, after the devm_add_action_or_reset()
returns, the of_node_put(clk_mux_np) is called again, causing a double
free.
Fix by returning directly, to avoid the duplicate of_node_put(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: ulpi: fix double free in ulpi_register_interface() error path
When device_register() fails, ulpi_register() calls put_device() on
ulpi->dev.
The device release callback ulpi_dev_release() drops the OF node
reference and frees ulpi, but the current error path in
ulpi_register_interface() then calls kfree(ulpi) again, causing a
double free.
Let put_device() handle the cleanup through ulpi_dev_release() and
avoid freeing ulpi again in ulpi_register_interface(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
misc: fastrpc: possible double-free of cctx->remote_heap
fastrpc_init_create_static_process() may free cctx->remote_heap on the
err_map path but does not clear the pointer. Later, fastrpc_rpmsg_remove()
frees cctx->remote_heap again if it is non-NULL, which can lead to a
double-free if the INIT_CREATE_STATIC ioctl hits the error path and the rpmsg
device is subsequently removed/unbound.
Clear cctx->remote_heap after freeing it in the error path to prevent the
later cleanup from freeing it again.
This issue was found by an in-house analysis workflow that extracts AST-based
information and runs static checks, with LLM assistance for triage, and was
confirmed by manual code review.
No hardware testing was performed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
pinctrl: cirrus: cs42l43: Fix double-put in cs42l43_pin_probe()
devm_add_action_or_reset() already invokes the action on failure,
so the explicit put causes a double-put. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nvme: nvme-fc: Ensure ->ioerr_work is cancelled in nvme_fc_delete_ctrl()
nvme_fc_delete_assocation() waits for pending I/O to complete before
returning, and an error can cause ->ioerr_work to be queued after
cancel_work_sync() had been called. Move the call to cancel_work_sync() to
be after nvme_fc_delete_association() to ensure ->ioerr_work is not running
when the nvme_fc_ctrl object is freed. Otherwise the following can occur:
