CVSS v3.1 |
| As an inadvertent side effect of an unrelated code change, PRIV_KTRACE was always denied to a jailed root user. Tracing configured by a jailed root user was therefore not flagged as privileged.
An unprivileged user in a jail that has permission to debug the target process can modify the jailed root user's ktrace(2) flags, or disable tracing outright. A jailed root user therefore cannot reliably trace unprivileged processes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: arm64: nv: Respect read-only PFN when mapping L1 VNCR
KVM currently maps the L1 VNCR into the host stage-1 by relying entirely
on the permissions of the guest stage-1. At the same time, it is
entirely possible that the backing PFN is read-only (e.g. RO memslot),
meaning that the L1 VNCR should use at most a read-only mapping.
Cache the writability of the PFN in the VNCR TLB and use it to constrain
the resulting fixmap permissions. Promote VNCR permission faults to an
SEA in the case where the guest attempts to write to a read-only
endpoint. Conveniently, this also plugs a page leak found by Sashiko [*]
resulting from the early return for a read-only PFN. |
| Incorrect default permissions in Microsoft PowerShell allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| A flaw was found in firewalld. A local unprivileged user can exploit this vulnerability by mis-authorizing two runtime D-Bus (Desktop Bus) setters, setZoneSettings2 and setPolicySettings. This mis-authorization allows the user to modify the runtime firewall state without proper authentication, leading to unauthorized changes in network security configurations. |
| In Sudo through 1.9.17p2 before 3e474c2, a failure of a setuid, setgid, or setgroups call, during a privilege drop before running the mailer, is not a fatal error and can lead to privilege escalation. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: do not expire session on binding failure
When a multichannel session binding request fails (e.g. wrong password),
the error path unconditionally sets sess->state = SMB2_SESSION_EXPIRED.
However, during binding, sess points to the target session looked up via
ksmbd_session_lookup_slowpath() -- which belongs to another connection's
user. This allows a remote attacker to invalidate any active session by
simply sending a binding request with a wrong password (DoS).
Fix this by skipping session expiration when the failed request was
a binding attempt, since the session does not belong to the current
connection. The reference taken by ksmbd_session_lookup_slowpath() is
still correctly released via ksmbd_user_session_put(). |
| A permissions issue was addressed with improved validation. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.3, macOS Sonoma 14.7.3, macOS Ventura 13.7.3. A local attacker may be able to elevate their privileges. |
| A permissions issue was addressed with additional restrictions. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.4, macOS Sonoma 14.7.3, macOS Ventura 13.7.3. An app may be able to access removable volumes without user consent. |
| This issue was addressed with improved message validation. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.3. An app may be able to gain elevated privileges. |
| This issue was addressed through improved state management. This issue is fixed in macOS Sequoia 15.3. Files downloaded from the internet may not have the quarantine flag applied. |
| A permissions issue was addressed with additional restrictions. This issue is fixed in iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3, macOS Sequoia 15.3, tvOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3. A malicious app may be able to gain root privileges. |
| Early versions of Operator-SDK provided an insecure method to allow operator containers to run in environments that used a random UID. Operator-SDK before 0.15.2 provided a script, user_setup, which modifies the permissions of the /etc/passwd file to 664 during build time. Developers who used Operator-SDK before 0.15.2 to scaffold their operator may still be impacted by this if the insecure user_setup script is still being used to build new container images.
In affected images, the /etc/passwd file is created during build time with group-writable permissions and a group ownership of root (gid=0). An attacker who can execute commands within an affected container, even as a non-root user, may be able to leverage their membership in the root group to modify the /etc/passwd file. This could allow the attacker to add a new user with any arbitrary UID, including UID 0, leading to full root privileges within the container. |
| Incorrect default permissions in some Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor memory controller configurations when using Intel(R) SGX may allow a privileged user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access. |
| An issue in Owncloud android apk v.4.3.1 allows a physically proximate attacker to escalate privileges via the PassCodeViewModel class, specifically in the checkPassCodeIsValid method |
| Insecure permissions in the script /etc/init.d/lighttpd in AK-Nord USB-Server-LXL Firmware v0.0.16 Build 2023-03-13 allows a locally authenticated low-privilege user to execute arbitrary commands with root privilege via editing this script which is executed with root-privileges on any interaction and on every system boot. |
| MacOS version of Poedit bundles a Python interpreter that inherits the Transparency, Consent, and Control (TCC) permissions
granted by the user to the main application bundle. An attacker with local user access can
invoke this interpreter with arbitrary commands or scripts, leveraging the
application's previously granted TCC permissions to access user's files in privacy-protected folders without triggering user prompts. Accessing other resources beyond previously granted TCC permissions will prompt the user for approval in the name of Poedit, potentially disguising attacker's malicious intent.
This issue has been fixed in 3.6.3 version of Poedit. |
| Clario through 2024-04-11 for Desktop has weak permissions for %PROGRAMDATA%\Clario and tries to load DLLs from there as SYSTEM. |
| Windows permissions for ASPECT configuration toolsets are not fully secured allow-ing exposure of configuration informationThis issue affects ASPECT-Enterprise: through 3.*; NEXUS Series: through 3.*; MATRIX Series: through 3.*. |
| The Goodwy com.goodwy.dialer (aka Right Dialer) application through 5.1.0 for Android enables any application (with no permissions) to place phone calls without user interaction by sending a crafted intent via the com.goodwy.dialer.activities.DialerActivity component. |
| COMFAST CF-WR630AX v2.7.0.2 was discovered to contain a hardcoded password vulnerability in /etc/shadow, which allows attackers to log in as root. |
