gpiolib: fix race condition for gdev->srcu
If two drivers were calling gpiochip_add_data_with_key(), one may be
traversing the srcu-protected list in gpio_name_to_desc(), meanwhile
other has just added its gdev in gpiodev_add_to_list_unlocked().
This creates a non-mutexed and non-protected timeframe, when one
instance is dereferencing and using &gdev->srcu, before the other
has initialized it, resulting in crash:

nilfs2: Fix potential block overflow that cause system hang
When a user executes the FITRIM command, an underflow can occur when
calculating nblocks if end_block is too small. Since nblocks is of
type sector_t, which is u64, a negative nblocks value will become a
very large positive integer. This ultimately leads to the block layer
function __blkdev_issue_discard() taking an excessively long time to
process the bio chain, and the ns_segctor_sem lock remains held for a
long period. This prevents other tasks from acquiring the ns_segctor_sem
lock, resulting in the hang reported by syzbot in [1].
If the ending block is too small, typically if it is smaller than 4KiB
range, depending on the usage of the segment 0, it may be possible to
attempt a discard request beyond the device size causing the hang.
Exiting successfully and assign the discarded size (0 in this case)
to range->len.
Although the start and len values in the user input range are too small,
a conservative strategy is adopted here to safely ignore them, which is
equivalent to a no-op; it will not perform any trimming and will not
throw an error.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: phy: allow MDIO bus PM ops to start/stop state machine for phylink-controlled PHY
DSA has 2 kinds of drivers:
1. Those who call dsa_switch_suspend() and dsa_switch_resume() from
their device PM ops: qca8k-8xxx, bcm_sf2, microchip ksz
2. Those who don't: all others. The above methods should be optional.
For type 1, dsa_switch_suspend() calls dsa_user_suspend() -> phylink_stop(),
and dsa_switch_resume() calls dsa_user_resume() -> phylink_start().
These seem good candidates for setting mac_managed_pm = true because
that is essentially its definition [1], but that does not seem to be the
biggest problem for now, and is not what this change focuses on.
Talking strictly about the 2nd category of DSA drivers here (which
do not have MAC managed PM, meaning that for their attached PHYs,
mdio_bus_phy_suspend() and mdio_bus_phy_resume() should run in full),
I have noticed that the following warning from mdio_bus_phy_resume() is
triggered:
WARN_ON(phydev->state != PHY_HALTED && phydev->state != PHY_READY &&
phydev->state != PHY_UP);
because the PHY state machine is running.
It's running as a result of a previous dsa_user_open() -> ... ->
phylink_start() -> phy_start() having been initiated by the user.
The previous mdio_bus_phy_suspend() was supposed to have called
phy_stop_machine(), but it didn't. So this is why the PHY is in state
PHY_NOLINK by the time mdio_bus_phy_resume() runs.
mdio_bus_phy_suspend() did not call phy_stop_machine() because for
phylink, the phydev->adjust_link function pointer is NULL. This seems a
technicality introduced by commit fddd91016d16 ("phylib: fix PAL state
machine restart on resume"). That commit was written before phylink
existed, and was intended to avoid crashing with consumer drivers which
don't use the PHY state machine - phylink always does, when using a PHY.
But phylink itself has historically not been developed with
suspend/resume in mind, and apparently not tested too much in that
scenario, allowing this bug to exist unnoticed for so long. Plus, prior
to the WARN_ON(), it would have likely been invisible.
This issue is not in fact restricted to type 2 DSA drivers (according to
the above ad-hoc classification), but can be extrapolated to any MAC
driver with phylink and MDIO-bus-managed PHY PM ops. DSA is just where
the issue was reported. Assuming mac_managed_pm is set correctly, a
quick search indicates the following other drivers might be affected:

Make the existing conditions dependent on the PHY device having a
phydev->phy_link_change() implementation equal to the default
phy_link_change() provided by phylib. Otherwise, we implicitly know that
the phydev has the phylink-provided phylink_phy_change() callback, and
when phylink is used, the PHY state machine always needs to be stopped/
started on the suspend/resume path. The code is structured as such that
if phydev->phy_link_change() is absent, it is a matter of time until the
kernel will crash - no need to further complicate the test.
Thus, for the situation where the PM is not managed b

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Forget ranges when refining tnum after JSET
Syzbot reported a kernel warning due to a range invariant violation on
the following BPF program.
0: call bpf_get_netns_cookie
1: if r0 == 0 goto <exit>
2: if r0 & Oxffffffff goto <exit>
The issue is on the path where we fall through both jumps.
That path is unreachable at runtime: after insn 1, we know r0 != 0, but
with the sign extension on the jset, we would only fallthrough insn 2
if r0 == 0. Unfortunately, is_branch_taken() isn't currently able to
figure this out, so the verifier walks all branches. The verifier then
refines the register bounds using the second condition and we end
up with inconsistent bounds on this unreachable path:
1: if r0 == 0 goto <exit>
r0: u64=[0x1, 0xffffffffffffffff] var_off=(0, 0xffffffffffffffff)
2: if r0 & 0xffffffff goto <exit>
r0 before reg_bounds_sync: u64=[0x1, 0xffffffffffffffff] var_off=(0, 0)
r0 after reg_bounds_sync: u64=[0x1, 0] var_off=(0, 0)
Improving the range refinement for JSET to cover all cases is tricky. We
also don't expect many users to rely on JSET given LLVM doesn't generate
those instructions. So instead of improving the range refinement for
JSETs, Eduard suggested we forget the ranges whenever we're narrowing
tnums after a JSET. This patch implements that approach. |

ksmbd: fix null pointer dereference error in generate_encryptionkey

sess->Preauth_HashValue is set to NULL if session is valid.
So this patch skip generate encryption key if session is valid. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: uvcvideo: Mark invalid entities with id UVC_INVALID_ENTITY_ID
Per UVC 1.1+ specification 3.7.2, units and terminals must have a non-zero
unique ID.
```
Each Unit and Terminal within the video function is assigned a unique
identification number, the Unit ID (UID) or Terminal ID (TID), contained in
the bUnitID or bTerminalID field of the descriptor. The value 0x00 is
reserved for undefined ID,
```
If we add a new entity with id 0 or a duplicated ID, it will be marked
as UVC_INVALID_ENTITY_ID.
In a previous attempt commit 3dd075fe8ebb ("media: uvcvideo: Require
entities to have a non-zero unique ID"), we ignored all the invalid units,
this broke a lot of non-compatible cameras. Hopefully we are more lucky
this time.
This also prevents some syzkaller reproducers from triggering warnings due
to a chain of entities referring to themselves. In one particular case, an
Output Unit is connected to an Input Unit, both with the same ID of 1. But
when looking up for the source ID of the Output Unit, that same entity is
found instead of the input entity, which leads to such warnings.
In another case, a backward chain was considered finished as the source ID
was 0. Later on, that entity was found, but its pads were not valid.
Here is a sample stack trace for one of those cases.

mm/hugetlb: fix hugetlb_pmd_shared()
Patch series "mm/hugetlb: fixes for PMD table sharing (incl. using
mmu_gather)", v3.
One functional fix, one performance regression fix, and two related
comment fixes.
I cleaned up my prototype I recently shared [1] for the performance fix,
deferring most of the cleanups I had in the prototype to a later point.
While doing that I identified the other things.
The goal of this patch set is to be backported to stable trees "fairly"
easily. At least patch #1 and #4.
Patch #1 fixes hugetlb_pmd_shared() not detecting any sharing
Patch #2 + #3 are simple comment fixes that patch #4 interacts with.
Patch #4 is a fix for the reported performance regression due to excessive
IPI broadcasts during fork()+exit().
The last patch is all about TLB flushes, IPIs and mmu_gather.
Read: complicated
There are plenty of cleanups in the future to be had + one reasonable
optimization on x86. But that's all out of scope for this series.
Runtime tested, with a focus on fixing the performance regression using
the original reproducer [2] on x86.
This patch (of 4):
We switched from (wrongly) using the page count to an independent shared
count. Now, shared page tables have a refcount of 1 (excluding
speculative references) and instead use ptdesc->pt_share_count to identify
sharing.
We didn't convert hugetlb_pmd_shared(), so right now, we would never
detect a shared PMD table as such, because sharing/unsharing no longer
touches the refcount of a PMD table.
Page migration, like mbind() or migrate_pages() would allow for migrating
folios mapped into such shared PMD tables, even though the folios are not
exclusive. In smaps we would account them as "private" although they are
"shared", and we would be wrongly setting the PM_MMAP_EXCLUSIVE in the

Fix it by properly using ptdesc_pmd_is_shared() in hugetlb_pmd_shared(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
virtio_net: Fix misalignment bug in struct virtnet_info
Use the new TRAILING_OVERLAP() helper to fix a misalignment bug
along with the following warning:
drivers/net/virtio_net.c:429:46: warning: structure containing a flexible array member is not at the end of another structure [-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end]
This helper creates a union between a flexible-array member (FAM)
and a set of members that would otherwise follow it (in this case
`u8 rss_hash_key_data[VIRTIO_NET_RSS_MAX_KEY_SIZE];`). This
overlays the trailing members (rss_hash_key_data) onto the FAM
(hash_key_data) while keeping the FAM and the start of MEMBERS aligned.
The static_assert() ensures this alignment remains.
Notice that due to tail padding in flexible `struct
virtio_net_rss_config_trailer`, `rss_trailer.hash_key_data`
(at offset 83 in struct virtnet_info) and `rss_hash_key_data` (at
offset 84 in struct virtnet_info) are misaligned by one byte. See
below:
struct virtio_net_rss_config_trailer {
__le16 max_tx_vq; /* 0 2 */
__u8 hash_key_length; /* 2 1 */
__u8 hash_key_data[]; /* 3 0 */
/* size: 4, cachelines: 1, members: 3 */
/* padding: 1 */
/* last cacheline: 4 bytes */
};
struct virtnet_info {
...
struct virtio_net_rss_config_trailer rss_trailer; /* 80 4 */
/* XXX last struct has 1 byte of padding */
u8 rss_hash_key_data[40]; /* 84 40 */
...
/* size: 832, cachelines: 13, members: 48 */
/* sum members: 801, holes: 8, sum holes: 31 */
/* paddings: 2, sum paddings: 5 */
};
After changes, those members are correctly aligned at offset 795:
struct virtnet_info {
...
union {
struct virtio_net_rss_config_trailer rss_trailer; /* 792 4 */
struct {
unsigned char __offset_to_hash_key_data[3]; /* 792 3 */
u8 rss_hash_key_data[40]; /* 795 40 */
}; /* 792 43 */
}; /* 792 44 */
...
/* size: 840, cachelines: 14, members: 47 */
/* sum members: 801, holes: 8, sum holes: 35 */
/* padding: 4 */
/* paddings: 1, sum paddings: 4 */
/* last cacheline: 8 bytes */
};
As a result, the RSS key passed to the device is shifted by 1
byte: the last byte is cut off, and instead a (possibly
uninitialized) byte is added at the beginning.
As a last note `struct virtio_net_rss_config_hdr *rss_hdr;` is also
moved to the end, since it seems those three members should stick
around together. :) |
