| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
btrfs: fix use-after-free warning in btrfs_get_or_create_delayed_node()
Previously, btrfs_get_or_create_delayed_node() set the delayed_node's
refcount before acquiring the root->delayed_nodes lock.
Commit e8513c012de7 ("btrfs: implement ref_tracker for delayed_nodes")
moved refcount_set inside the critical section, which means there is
no longer a memory barrier between setting the refcount and setting
btrfs_inode->delayed_node.
Without that barrier, the stores to node->refs and
btrfs_inode->delayed_node may become visible out of order. Another
thread can then read btrfs_inode->delayed_node and attempt to
increment a refcount that hasn't been set yet, leading to a
refcounting bug and a use-after-free warning.
The fix is to move refcount_set back to where it was to take
advantage of the implicit memory barrier provided by lock
acquisition.
Because the allocations now happen outside of the lock's critical
section, they can use GFP_NOFS instead of GFP_ATOMIC. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fbcon: Set fb_display[i]->mode to NULL when the mode is released

Based on experimentation and analysis, during framebuffer unregistration,
only the memory of fb_info->modelist is freed, without setting the
corresponding fb_display[i]->mode to NULL for the freed modes. This leads
to UAF issues during subsequent accesses. Here's an example of reproduction
steps:
1. With /dev/fb0 already registered in the system, load a kernel module
to register a new device /dev/fb1;
2. Set fb1's mode to the global fb_display[] array (via FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP);
3. Switch console from fb to VGA (to allow normal rmmod of the ko);
4. Unload the kernel module, at this point fb1's modelist is freed, leaving
a wild pointer in fb_display[];
5. Trigger the bug via system calls through fb0 attempting to delete a mode
from fb0.
Add a check in do_unregister_framebuffer(): if the mode to be freed exists
in fb_display[], set the corresponding mode pointer to NULL. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/mediatek: fix potential OF node use-after-free
The for_each_child_of_node() helper drops the reference it takes to each
node as it iterates over children and an explicit of_node_put() is only
needed when exiting the loop early.
Drop the recently introduced bogus additional reference count decrement
at each iteration that could potentially lead to a use-after-free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
f2fs: fix to avoid panic in f2fs_evict_inode
